Latino advocates argue that Latino voters played decisive roles in victories achieved by Democratic candidates in California, Nevada and other states. It is suggested that the pro-immigration reform position adopted by those candidates earned them the support of Latino voters. It is also pointed out that Latino candidates, democratic and republican, had important triumphs, including Susana Martinez in her race for New Mexico governor.
